About Pinch Me Pottery

I spent over 30 years teaching art to elementary students, which I loved, and after retiring almost 11 years ago, I finally had the chance to explore art on my own.‍ ‍

I joined a pottery class through the City, which was a blast—though sometimes I found myself frustrated when I couldn’t get the wheel to cooperate. I then switched to hand-building pottery pieces. I even borrowed an older kiln from my school district and started making things slowly. A neighbor, Carolyn, joined me, and we ended up with too many clay pieces to keep. So, we started selling them at markets around Tucson. The name “Pinch Me Pottery” came from a lesson I used with kindergartners: I’d have them make a clay ball, place their thumb in the middle, and then pinch the edges to create their first pots.

My mice became a favorite of mine to make; each one would have its own personality and began as a small pinch pot.

All classes are held in Tucson, AZ.

The beginner’s hand-building pottery class is a fantastic way to explore your creativity and learn a new craft. This class will introduce you to the fundamental techniques of pottery without the need for a pottery wheel.

The atmosphere in my class is relaxed, supportive, and encourages personal expression. I will guide you through the process.

At the end of the class, you’ll have created your own unique piece of pottery.
